RESEARCH AND INTERNSHIPS
SCHOLARHIPS - Engineering Merit Scholarship, Puksta Scholarship & More
CAREER SERVICES Seagate Job Fair Saturday Dec. 8th

RESEARCH AND INTERNSHIPS
Although you are really busy this time of year, I'd like to plant a seed about internships. The value of an internship is not only the money and experience earned, but also the connections to what you are learning in the classroom and the doors it will open to your future. Employers in both the public and private sector report that internships are the key to good job placement upon graduation. It's a win-win situation whereby you gain experience and a feel for the work setting, while employers gauge your skills and aptitudes as a potential employee.

Keep in mind that internship applications for Summer 2008 will be due early in the spring. If you are a current sophomore or junior, think strongly about your interests and explore some opportunities on line to submit applications for this Summer. See the Career Services link: http://careerservices.colorado.edu/public.cs?internships

Engineering Merit Scholarship
Eligible students are entering sophomores, juniors, or seniors and will be enrolled fulltime in the fall of 2008. The minimum, cumulative GPA requirement is 3.0, but you are encouraged to apply if your GPA is close to the required. Deadline is March 3, 2008. Please apply early as there is a possibility of a 2008 summer paid internship from one of our donors. https://ecadw.colorado.edu/SholarshipApplication/index.aspx

Puksta Scholars
The work of Puksta Scholars will effectively integrate learning in and outside the classroom resulting in an enhanced and illuminating educational experience and responsible citizenship. Each scholar must develop a year long intensive civic engagement project. While doing so, they are supported by an experienced team of faculty/staff, other scholars and an enriching program of seminars, speakers, service projects and opportunities to collaborate and share insights. To apply, submit a Puksta Scholars application and four essays as described in the application by February 1, 2008 (refer to the link, below). There will be a limited number of $4,500 scholarships, which may be renewable based upon available funding and successful completion of program requirements. www.colorado.edu/AcademicAffairs/UE/pukstaweb/docs/Application_08-09_1_.doc
