Research in the College of Engineering and Applied Science is focused
on problems of both technological and sociological importance: computing
and communications, health and treatment of disease, national security,
environmental sustainability, and transportation and building infrastructure.

Interdisciplinary Research Centers
The college has 17 interdisciplinary research centers that bring
together faculty, students, and other professional participants.
These include three National Science Foundation Industry/University
Cooperative Research Centers, three joint centers with the
University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus, and the new
four-institution Colorado Center for Biorefining and Biofuels headquartered

Discovery Learning
The Discovery
Learning Center provides 45,000 square feet of technologically
advanced space for collaborative research by students, faculty, and
industry partners. The center is home to 12 engineering research
centers that are leading a college-wide initiative promoting
undergraduate involvement in research. Undergraduate students seeking
