Along with the many other advantages that CU-Boulder has to offer its students is its location. Nestled at the foot of the Rocky Mountains along Colorado's Front Range, the CU-Boulder campus offers stunning views of the mountains and easy access to hiking, biking, skiing and many other outdoor activities. Many buildings on campus host amazing views of the Boulder Flatirons and wherever you are on campus you can rest assured that nature is just a short bike or car ride away. With 300 days of sunshine a year, Boulder residents enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle. If the outdoors are not your thing, or you just want a change in style, the city of Boulder also offers a wide range of entertainment to its residents. The Pearl Street Mall in Downtown Boulder and the University Hill District are two locations often frequented by University students as well as the Boulder community. Both locations offer many types of entertainment including shopping, many unique restaurants, concerts and much more. In the summer, Boulder is also home to the Colorado Shakespeare Festival which is held on the CU-Boulder Campus and throughout the year the city hosts many other cultural events. Additionally, many citizens participate in the "Bolder Boulder," a 10K road race which has been a part of the Boulder community for the past 25 years. If you are still looking for something different, Boulder is located only 30 minutes from Denver, the state's largest city, which offers many other forms of entertainment. Another benefit to students is Boulder's location in one of the nation's fastest growing high-tech regions. CU-Boulder is an integral player in the entrepreneurial environment, and students from the university find jobs and internships in many successful local companies. As an added bonus, several federal laboratories (NOAA, NIST, NCAR) are based in Boulder, creating a dynamic intellectual environment in science, engineering, and technology.
