Martin "Marty" Dunn was appointed associate dean for research in the College of Engineering and Applied Science in August 2009. He also holds the Victor Schelke Endowed Chair and is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
He was chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering from 2004 until his appointment as associate dean. His research interests include the micro/nanomechanics of materials and structures, shape-memory and light-activated polymers, and the mechanics and physics of Li ion batteries.
