Bright Named Associate Dean of Research Victor Bright, a CU professor of mechanical engineering and expert in micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), was appointed associate dean for research in the college on Oct. 31. His appointment followed the promotion of former associate dean Stein Sture to serve as interim vice chancellor for research and dean of the Graduate School at CU-Boulder. Bright has been a member of the college faculty since 1998. Prior to that, he was a professor in the department of electrical and computer engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado at Denver in 1986, and his master's and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1989 and 1992. He has published more than 70 articles in professional journals and has received extensive research support from the National Science Foundation, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, and Air Force Office of Scientific Research. He also serves as editor of the Micromechanics Section of the Elsevier journal, Sensors and Actuators A (Physical). |
