GRADUATE ACADEMIC PROGRAMS Faculty in the Interdisciplinary Telecommunications Program have been revamping the entire curriculum to reflect substantial shifts in the telecommunication landscape as the industry recovers from the recent internet boom and bust cycle. The curriculum reflects both the increasing diversity and ubiquity of networks, with an emphasis on mixed wired and wireless communication, the standardization of the industry on IP transport, and a new set of critical policy issues around spectrum, security, and the correct interplay of social and business goals in the converted network era. "We are using the disruption the industry has suffered as an opportunity to take a careful look and update the program from top to bottom," says Tom Lookabaugh, faculty director for ITP. "Like the stronger and more nimble players in the industry, we expect to emerge from the "telecom bust" as a more significant player in setting trends in education for the network age." With award-winning faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, and a top-notch curriculum the Interdisciplinary Telecommunications Program at CU-Boulder, the oldest program of its kind in the nation, continues to lead the way in telecommunications education. |
