DEAA Nomination Procedures

The Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award (DEAA) gives special recognition to those graduates of the University of Colorado at Boulder College of Engineering and Applied Science who have had distinguished careers after graduation. The nominee's career should demonstrate: exceptional service in government or education, meaningful innovation or implementation in research and invention, or a significant contribution in industry and commerce or private practice. An award also may be made in a "special" category to those alumni of the college whose careers have been distinguished in other areas, or to non-alumni who deserve recognition for their distinguished services to the college. In addition to distinguished accomplishments, criteria for the award includes continued involvement with the College of Engineering and Applied Science and broader contributions, such as outstanding professional or community service.

Nominations may be submitted by faculty, staff, alumni, or friends of the University of Colorado at Boulder. Download the DEAA Nomination Form and submit by September 20.  You may need to download Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Nominations are accepted at any time, but must be received by September 20 for appropriate consideration by the Selection Committee for the following year's awards. Award recipients are asked to be present at the Engineering Awards Banquet (held each year in April) to accept the award in person, a condition for receiving the honor. Those nominees unable to attend the awards banquet in person will be reconsidered in subsequent years. Nominations remain in active consideration for five years and may be updated during this time.
