find current information on events, outreach/volunteering and career
opportunities. These newsletters are also available on the

The WIEP Resource
Center is open!
Ladies don't forget to make use of the WIEP
Resource Center (ECCE 100). Get your homework done in one of the
quiet study areas, get free tutoring, meet new students, and sign up for
volunteer opportunities (volunteer binder is on the white board outside
Dr. Beverly Louie's office). You can also get access to the Center
after hours (normal hours are 8a.m. - 5p.m.), just ask one of the
receptionists how!

faculty, students and staff, from all engineering departments, for lunch.
Stop by the Women in Engineering Resource Center for FREE food and
unmatched company. This is a great opportunity to meet new people in

Attention all female Chemical, Chemical and Biological, Applied Math,
and Open Option Engineering students. Network with new people,
female faculty, students, and staff in your major. Also, sign-up for

Girl Scout Event - Need Volunteers!
Saturday, September 8th
10a.m. - 12p.m. and/or 12:30p.m. - 2:30p.m., ECCE 100
No experience is necessary to
help out with this rewarding event. Come help 8 – 11 year old girls get
there badge by learning about architecture and creative means to a
solution.

Don't wait

The WIEP sponsors free drop-in tutoring for all female engineering
students and MEP students. The tutor is available Monday-Thursday in the
WIEP/MEP quiet study room in ECCE 100. See below for hours. Get help in
chemistry, physics, math, study skills, test-taking skills and more!

stop in! Mon 11-2:30p.m./Tues 10-11p.m./Wed 11a.m.-2p.m./Thurs
10a.m.-11a.m. and 3-4:30p.m.

NASA Undergraduate Students
Research Program
Seeking sophomore, junior and seniors in
engineering, math, computer science and life/physical sciences. Gain
hands-on, real life experience in a paid internship with NASA. Join a
10-week summer session or 15-week spring/fall session. Click here to see

Wanted! After School Mentor
Are you interested in giving back to the community,
working with elementary school students and making some money? If you are
fluent in both Spanish and English this is a great opportunity for you to
get involved. Pioneer Elementary School is seeking a bilingual student to
assist students on a weekly basis every Wednesday from 2:35 until 3:35p.m.
The pay is $10/hr and compensation for mileage is additional. If you are

MESA Mentor Training
Become a MESA Mentor! This workshop provides you
with valuable networking opportunities. As a mentor you will have the
opportunity to learn how to integrate career components into MESA programs
by participating in hands-on activities and meeting with the MESA
advisors. The original meeting dates for the workshops have been
rescheduled. New dates are Friday, September 7th and Saturday,

Agilent Technologies Panel
During the week of the Fall Career Fair Agilent
Technologies will be providing an informal panel discussion regarding
engineering opportunities, not just in Research and Development. Hear
about personal experiences and get all your questions answered. This is a
great opportunity to learn about career possibilities through Agilent.
This will be on October 8th from 6p.m. – 7p.m. in ECCR 1B40. In
addition, pizza will be provided.
Course Repetition
Information
Didn’t do so well the first time around? Get a
second chance at completing that course. Apply for course repetition
on-line by Friday, December 14th, 2007. No more paper
applications, $5.00 fee, or transcript requirement. Find the application
on CUCONNECT under “Academics and Research”, then “Registrar Forms”. For

OUTREACH/VOLUNTEERING
Multicultural Career Fair
Help out with the Multicultural Engineering Fair.
Earn Certificates of Participation and lunch with industry reps by
donating your time. Assistance is needed starting at 10am on October 9th
to set-up chairs and table cloths. In addition, at 11am there will be
opportunities for volunteers to distribute packets. Also, escorts are
needed to help professionals to the coors event center from ECCE 100 on
October 8th. If you are available during these times please

Suit Yourself Event and Fashion Show - Need
Volunteers!
Volunteers are needed for the Suit
Yourself Event and Fashion Show. You will be able to participate
within the community and if you are able to participate for two hours you
will get 50% off merchandise from the sale. We need models, help
with set-up, organization of merchandise, and clean-up. Please stop
by the WIEP front desk to sign-up (a sign up sheet is attached to the
counter) and e-mail

go to MEP, MBSA, and MESA, so give back to your programs.
