When you arrive at your designated foyer,
pick up your preprinted name card so you can pass it to the
reader on stage during the ceremony. You are then to line up by
your academic degree program for the processional, Masters
first, then Bachelors. Do not leave any personal items in the
balcony area during the ceremony.
Ph.D. candidates and their advisors
will assemble in the west foyer balcony area only. You
will receive a preprinted name card to pass to the reader. Put
on your academic regalia prior to your procession, but carry
your hood as you will be hooded by your faculty advisor or other
faculty during the ceremony. Guests should not accompany
these candidates to this assembly area.
The processional will begin with the
Masters and Bachelors candidates. Ambassadors will lead you in
direct you to the main floor, filling one row at a time.
The Ph.D. candidates and their advisors will then process and
take their place on the Macky stage. Next the faculty, College
guests and platform party will enter and proceed to the stage.

friends should use the center south (main) entrance of Macky

Ph.D. candidates
will be asked to stand to be hooded by their advisors. Once
you’ve been hooded, please move to your left (east side of
stage), forming a line at the side of the stage behind the
reader in departmental order. After your name is read, proceed
across the stage to receive your diploma cover, and then return
to your seat via the west side of the stage. Please remain
standing until all candidates have been recognized.
Masters and Bachelors candidates
will be directed by an usher to form a line down the right side
of auditorium. When you reach the front of the stage, do not
proceed up the stairs until the reader has read the name of the
student in front of you. Proceed up the stairs and hand your
card to the reader, cross the stage, and then return to your
seat. Please remain standing until all candidates in your
department have returned to their seats.
Only candidates will be allowed to
cross the stage during the ceremony.
If children accompany you to the stairs, they must return to
their seats before you will be allowed on the stage.
The Colorado Brass Quintet will
perform and a professional photographer will be present. The
photographer will contact you directly about purchasing
photographs. This Recognition Ceremony will last approximately
90 minutes.
