The Colorado Center for Biorefining and Biofuels (C2B2) is a cooperative research and education center devoted to the conversion of biomass to fuels and other products.

C2B2 is an official research center of the Colorado Renewable Energy Collaboratory and is supported by state, institutional, and industry funds. Partner institutions include the University of Colorado, Colorado State University, Colorado School of Mines, and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

C2B2 was established to improve fundamental understanding of biorefining and biofuel methodologies and to develop new technologies for the integration of renewable sources of materials and energy into the related industries. The center provides training within a collaborative environment for students and industrial scientists, including a 10-week summer Research Experience for Undergraduates program, graduate research and support for post-doctoral fellows.

The center promotes innovation within six main research thrusts:

• Feedstock Engineering, Plant Biotechnology and Crop Science
• Biochemical Engineering
• Thermochemical Engineering
• Process Engineering
• Product Engineering
• System Assessment and Analysis
